Hi, I’m Maya. I am a spritely and sweet 8 year old tuxedo cat. I am pretty quirky and I love attention. I’m usually eager to start the day, so most mornings I patiently wait by your bedroom door. When you do wake up, I flit and dart through the house while you make coffee. If you scratch me on my rear, I go a little crazy. Laser pointers? I go wild for them.

I’m somewhat of an explorer. Hopping onto a couch to curl up beside you gives me joy, but I respectfully wait for permission. On a lazy afternoon, perhaps when you’re home reading or watching TV, you can find me on the window sill watching the birds and squirrels for hours.

When you get home from work I will greet you with a loving meow. Like many cats, I’m an excellent listener and can be your ear for hours. Belly rubs on the couch make me very happy. And, if I really like you, I will lick you and purr while you rub my belly!

As for food, I’m not too picky — a good piece of turkey deli meat every now and then hits the spot, but dry food is my staple meal. I love drinking out of my flower shaped water fountain. People say I am super cute when I stick my tongue out for a drink.

I can sometimes be shy with new people, but I warm up quick. I don’t love being picked up by strangers, as I’d like to get to know someone first. But when I do open up, I am super affectionate. Once I get to know you, I’ll be your devoted companion.

My current owner and I have spent 5 beautiful, purr-filled years together, but he’s moving abroad! We are both heartbroken that I can’t come with, but I know I’ll find a new owner to provide a happy and healthy life for me. I’m hoping for a forever home, one with no dogs and an owner cherishes me.
