Waffles

Good evening and happy holidays! I wanted to let you know how Waffles is doing. Since we got her in June 2023, we have been following her lead and working with her during this time. It has been a process.
As the year comes to a close, Waffles is now fully acclimated to the entire house and is still learning the “kitty politics” but nothing horrible - some growling, hissing and chasing - but that is subsiding as time passes.
Waffles decided in early December to come down to the main floor and stay down here with everyone. She moves between all the floors in the house now like she’s always been here.
Her fave spots are the cradle on the bay window and the top of the fridge. She loves pets and the dot and has bonded quickly to Zanzibar. Whenever she goes to the vet for a nail trim, Zanzibar comes along and even the techs noticed she’s not as stressed when he accompanies her.
She loves dry food, wet food, treats, cat nip, cookies, ham, chicken, cheese, pudding, rice, peas, chocolate milk (not reg milk), ribs, pork, bacon, pizza, toast, Chinese and Mexican food. Waffles is a true blue Tuxie with the food.
Waffles let’s me pick her up and hold her/carry her for 30-40 seconds, before her disdain begins, which is fine because that’s all I need to get her into a carrier to go to the vet.  She’s learning the schedule /routine of food, work and bath time - she’s loves water and loves to be in the bathroom when one of us showers.
She responds to her name and will follow me when I ask her - though not all the time as she is a cat .

Whitaker

We changed Hayden's name to Whittaker which means wheat field or white field :). He is an amazing cat, so playful and snuggly. We love him so much!

Willow

Nearly 18 years ago when my brother and I were younger, our parents decided to adopt the most beautiful cat in the world- Mia from the Pet Smart in Warminster. Mia lived the happiest life a cat could live with us and brought us the most joy we could have every imagined for 17 years and 9 months. She was the most beautiful and perfect cat I could have ever asked for, most importantly, she was my best friend who I had for basically all of my life. We had to put Mia down unexpectedly due to old age. I was and still am, heartbroken from losing my best friend.

A little while later, my family and I went to the same Pet Smart that we had adopted Mia from almost 18 years ago when I was two. We saw Willow and instantly all smiled. The very nice volunteer Nancy let us come in right away after she fed all the cats. Nancy is a very pleasant, sweet, and very caring person. All the cats there were so beautiful, we knew something was special about Willow though. As my family and I talked to Nancy about how the adoption process works, Willow winked at us from the window seat he was on! I immediately rushed to fill out the adoption papers and thought about him everyday and how happy we would be to have him. The wonderful and extremely helpful woman named Jackie texted us throughout the adoption process. We were so eager to get Willow that we wanted to take him home as soon as possible. Together, Jackie and Nancy made it so we could pick up Willow as soon as Pet Smart opened on Mother’s day; only four days after we saw him and filled out the adoption application.

Willow hid and did not really come out for the first few weeks except to eat, drink, and use the bathroom…but he did come out and scope out the whole house including the kitchen and counters while we were asleep! Haha. He then, towards the end of the second week, came out while my family and I were eating, and then I went to sit on the floor to pet and comfort him, and he climbed right on my lap, and we were instantly bonded and connected.

We are becoming better friends each day and we are so happy to have him. Willow is such an amazing, kind, beautiful, playful, and loving boy. He is getting more comfortable each day and is almost always by my side! Willow has a big appetite and loves to be held and brushed and loves to play with all his toys. He also loves catnip of course. Willow also loves to look outside and watch the birds on the window sill. He loves to help us cook, watch t.v., and just chill by our sides. We are so thankful to have Willow with us now, he is apart of our family and we couldn’t be happier.

This adoption process could not have been more perfect and easy for us. I learned through this process, that a lot of the people who help you adopt, maybe even all, are volunteers. They were all so nice, helpful, down to earth, and quick. I recommend and will continue to recommend Hart 2 Heart adoption to everybody who has the capability, love, money, and time to give to the animals. This is now the second time that we had a successful adoption and we could not be happier. Thank you Hart 2 Heart. ❤️
